UFC on ESPN 18: Five Fights To Make

While UFC on ESPN 18 lacked any real consequence due to a late notice cancellation in its main event, Saturday night’s fight card produced a lot of finishes and a much-needed victory for Anthony Smith.

Taking a short notice five-round fight for the second time during the COVID-19 pandemic, Smith would snap a disappointing two-fight losing streak against Devin Clark as a quick takedown set-up a first-round triangle choke win.

Smith, who recorded his 13th submission win in his 50th professional MMA bout, was quick to remind those watching in his post-fight interview that he still had some left in the tank as ‘Lionheart’ put his 205 lbs record at 5-3.

Elsewhere at UFC on ESPN 18, Miguel Baeza’s stock continued to rise as the welterweight prospect scored his first submission win over the dangerous Takaski Sato; Bill Algeo would out-pace Spike Carlyle over three rounds while Jonathan Pearce would best Kai Kamaka in a non-stop bout.

With another UFC event in the books, here are five fights to make with Saturday’s big winners:
