Floods Inundate Australia's Pilbara Region After Cyclone Veronica

Floodwaters swamped communities in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, after Cyclone Veronica swept through the area in late March, the Bureau of Meteorology reported. Multiple flood warnings were issued for rivers in the Pilbara coastal and district areas with water levels expected to rise in the De Grey River catchment east of Port Hedland, the BoM said in an alert on Tuesday, March 26. “Although winds have eased, heavy rainfall may continue to cause hazardous road conditions and localised flooding in parts of the central and west Pilbara coast and adjacent inland areas,” the BoM. This video, filmed by local man Neville Diver, shows flooding at a property in Boodarie, on Tuesday. Cyclone Veronica had weakened significantly and was not expected to reintensify as it tracked east of Karratha, the BoM said. Credit: Neville Diver via Storyful
