Airbus BelugaXL lockdown landing show for plane spotters

Daily Post 12/01/2021 Owen Hughes

The latest lockdowns across the UK have placed restrictions on the lives of millions of people in a bid to control Covid infection rates.

It has kept families and friends apart, stopped people getting to shops, pubs and restaurants, and kept sports fans out of their cherished home grounds.

But the control on travel has also meant plane spotters have been unable to get their fix of aviation adventure.

In a bid to make up for this Airbus Broughton decided to put on a show this morning - filming the landing of the BelugaXL 3.

The giant aircraft is a favourite for photographers and while not quite the same as being there it at least gave 'AV geeks' an aviation appertiser as they wait for better times.

They livestreamed the landing on theĀ  Beluga XL Hawarden fan page.

Airbus Broughton said: "We know lockdown has made spotting impossible, so we wanted to share a video with our #AvGeek followers."

The third Airbus Beluga XL first flew into Broughton on its first operational flight in October.

There will be a total of six XL planes built and they will gradually replace the BelugaST.
