Maison Margiela : Men's show Spring/Summer 2019

Creative director : John Galliano Place/Inspiration : The first male couture fashion show called «Artisanal», like for women. On this occasion, John Galliano, called upon the American artist Tony Matelli to exhibit four new sculptures. In this collection, the designer also poses questions of masculinity, of sensuality and sexuality, of gender and identity. Inspiration : John Galliano has transferred the codes of haute couture onto men, all while ensuring a Margiela vocabulary. The slim vinyl colored pants are worn over corsets, which is dear to the designer. In the tailoring, Galliano adds the bias cuts for the first time in mens clothing, and offers jackets reshaped into capes, coordinated tops with feathered collars and bejeweled embroidery. Some other coats and jacked are made from vintage kimonos. To note : The game of transparency and materials with plastic and rubber + accessories with Santiago boots, dishwashing gloves + hair with streaks of colour Music from the show (for use only context of this report, under cover of the right to information)
