Lion Air passenger films evacuation after plane crashes at Indonesian airport

Passengers aboard the Lion Air flight JT 714 were evacuated after the plane crashed while landing at Supadio Airport airport in Indonesia today (February 16). The Lion Air Boing 737 had left Jakarta at 2pm local time and was coming into land at the airport in Pontianak some 500 miles north when it encountered a treacherous downpour. Footage captured by one of the passengers shows people exiting the aircraft and walking along the wing to reach the ground with the help of officials. Passengers can be seen walking inside Supadio Airport moments after the evacuation later in the clip. Polana Pramesti, Director General of Air Relations at the country's Ministry of Transportation, confirmed the crash. He said: ''It is true, the plane slipped due to heavy rain. There were no fatalities and the entire crew survived.’' The incident follows the tragic crash of the Lion Air Flight 610 last October in which all passengers and members of the crew were killed.
