Women Repatriated From Syria to Kosovo on Charges of Joining Terrorist Groups

Ten women who were repatriated from Syria to Kosovo were placed under house arrest on charges of joining armed and terrorist groups on April 23 in Pristina, Kosovo, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE). The women, who were charged with joining foreign terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq from 2014 to 2019, were part of a group of 110 Kosovo citizens extradited from Syria, RFE said. “The court ruled house arrest for all the women, having taking into consideration that all of them have families and children to take care of. All of them are already living in the homes of relatives,” Fehmie Gashi Bytyci, a lawyer who represents one of the women, said, according to Balkan Insight. Balkan Insight reported that the women would face up to 15 years in prison if they were found guilty. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
