Samothrace island in Greece buried in snow as locals are trapped in their houses due to blizzard
The Greek island of Samothrace in north Aegean was hit by a severe snowstorm that disrupted the life of locals with many roads covered in snow and some power lines totally cut off. Extreme weather conditions left the island without ferry services for days, and now locals with the help from mainland Greece are trying to clean the mountains of snow inside the villages. Footage shows piles of thick snow in Chora, the main village of Samothrace with vehicles covered to the top. Firefighters provided residents with basic needs as they are trapped and unable to move. Snow accumulations exceeded 3 meters into the village while excavators have been working all day to unblock the road leading to the harbor of Kamariotissa.
