The queue jump saga that Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have found themselves embroiled in continues as a source has said there was a bit of a 'hoo-ha' when they originally arrived.

The This Morning presenters continue to face backlash for allegedly 'skipping the queue' to see the late monarch lying in state before her funeral.

The controversy has been dubbed 'Queue Gate' with the tally for signatures to have them axed from the morning chat show now standing over 70,500.

A new report has found that the presenting duo weren't on the media accreditation list to see the Queen at Westminster Abbey.

A source told The Mail on Sunday, as per MailOnline: 'When they got there, their names weren't on the list so there were some discussions and - after some back and forth - Phil and Holly were given access and they were ushered through.'

Rather, it was the email address of the programme editor Martin Frizell and another member of the production team that was down on the list.

Previously citing the concerns surrounding Holly's welfare following the litany of abuse she had received from disgruntled social media users, a source had said that she and Phillip were: 'fully entitled to media accreditation so they could inform their viewers.'

Now, ITV has released a statement explaining the reason for the queue confusion.

The broadcaster has said it would never have shared the contact details of the presenters.

The statement noted how the accreditation was organised for the television hosts by the This Morning team and that it was made 'absolutely clear' that they would be attending on behalf of the show.

The statement read: 'We would never share personal contact details of our on-screen talent and so the email address of the production members accompanying Phillip and Holly on the day were given instead.'
