UCD introducing gender neutral toilets and transgender facilities at sport centre

The college also plan to provide transgender facilities at their sports centre in Belfield, South Dublin.

Minister for Child and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone will launch the university's Gender Identity and Expression Policy today, February 22.

The event will take place on the campus between 5pm and 6:30pm later at the Moore Auditorium, UCD O'Brien Centre for Science.

Minister Zappone welcomed the move as another step towards “full equality for all”.

"UCD is continuing that proud tradition by providing a welcoming campus for trans and gender-fluid students and employees.”

UCD's website stated: "Gender identity and expression is a positive, core part, of being human and experiencing wellbeing and fulfilment.

"UCD celebrates its diverse community of employees and students and their diverse gender identities and expression.

"Fundamental equality and inclusion in UCD’s community is central to our University’s ethos of academic excellence and integrity and our aspiration to be leaders in our society."
