Michelle Visage could do Strictly and Ireland’s Got Talent according to senior TV sources.

It was reported today that Strictly bosses are hoping to sign the RuPaul’s Drag Race star in a bid to attract a fresh new audience.

The former pop singer, 50, has become an LGBT icon after eight years on the outrageous drag queen competition — which has a cult following amongst millennials.

The BBC has seen the impact she has had on Ireland’s Got Talent as she has delivered a young, vibrant and diverse viewer and contestant to the Virgin One series.

Visage, whose real name is Michelle Lynn Shupack, is close friends with Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell, who recently hired her as a judge on Ireland’s Got Talent.

She has also appeared in Celebrity Big Brother and last year made her West End debut in flamboyant musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

But with Strictly due to begin in September and Virgin yet to recommission IGT, does that rule Visage out of a potential return to Irish TV?

Not according to one senior source at Virgin Media.

‘They are two very different TV shows’, said the source.

‘The auditions for talent are filmed over a number of consecutive days.

‘If it comes back, and that has not been decided yet, we could work around Michelle’s schedule.

‘The auditions would be filmed and then there is a break until the end of March when Strictly would have concluded.

‘If anything having Michelle on Strictly would add to the popularity of IGT so good luck to her.

‘But no decision has been made yet on whether or not IGT is coming back.’

Extra.ie revealed that the future of Ireland’s Got Talent has yet to be decided.

It is understood that the decision still rests with top management who are deciding whether they can afford the estimated EUR3million it takes to make the series.
