Christy Dignam had a hospital waiting room singing along to one of his iconic songs after having to cancel Aslan's 3Arena gig due to concerns over his health.

Aslan were due to take to the 3Arena stage this Saturday, but were forced to postpone the show after doctors advised lead singer Christy not to perform.

The 62-year-old was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer called amyloidosis nine years ago, which had led to several of Aslan's 40th anniversary shows being delayed.

Never one to let bad news get the better of him, Christy was filmed breaking out into song in a hospital on Thursday.

Despite Aslan's big show being cancelled just 24 hours prior, Christy was more than happy to perform 'Crazy World' for those waiting to be seen by a hospital worker.

A mysterious man sitting beside Christy plays the guitar as the entire ward sing Aslan's biggest hit together in the heart-warming video.

Aslan fans flocked to social media to send their regards to Christy and praise him for keeping spirits up in the hospital.

One person said: 'Christy Dignam, a true national hero. Just Brilliant.'

Another added: 'Ah that's brilliant all the best to him and everyone else in there, lovely song.'

While one person wrote: 'Just a great lad Christy is...one of Dublins finest...hope he gets better soon.'

Confirming the news that their 3Arena show was being rescheduled, Aslan said in a statement that 'everything was going so well' and 'Christy was doing great' before the doctors issued their advice.

'However, he has suffered a setback with his treatment, and we have now been instructed by his doctors that it is not advisable for Christy to perform this Saturday.

'Christy, Joe, Alan & Billy are beyond devastated to have to share this news with you. We are working to find a new date at 3Arena, so do hold on to your tickets, as they will be fully valid for the rescheduled date.

'As you all know, Christy’s health is priority and we also have to respect his privacy at these times,' the band said in a statement.

Christy recently revealed he experienced a dramatic 'life or death' situation over the summer which led to the band postposing some of their shows.

'About three weeks ago they did a bone marrow biopsy. Basically what they do is they get a core of your bone marrow out and they put some of this chemo on it to see if it will kill the amyloid in the bone marrow and this one did, so it was a good candidate.

'If it didn’t work I was f***ed. Up to now you would come in [to the hospital] and recharge your batteries, this time it was different. This time it was life or death stuff. I was absolutely terrified this was not going to work, that I was a goner.

'For the week when I was waiting on the results I couldn’t eat or sleep. It’s like a death sentence. Someone is praying for me. I’m still here, which is the main thing,' he told the Sunday Mirror.
