AOL Instant Messenger is no more

Tech Radar calls it, "the end of an era." After an incredible 20 year run, reports say that AOL Instant Messenger is done. According to an announcement made on Tumblr, AIM is closing it's doors on December 15. Although this may come as a surprise to the public, Tech Radar says that there have been inside rumblings for a long time. This includes a 2012 AOL layoff of over 40 workers, that mostly made up the AIM team. They also say that in February 2017, AOL began shutting off access to some "third-party chat clients."
