The MPV segment is ruled by the Toyota Innova but there is a big space below it for manufacturers to prosper and where Mahindra wants to get in. The Xylo is just not premium enough for that and hence with a new platform, styling and features the upmarket Marazzo is here. Prices start at Rs 9.9 lakh and go all the way to Rs 13.9 lakh for the top-end. The name is Spanish for 'shark' which explains the edgy and various design details designed to mimic. Pics and details have been leaked out so before its launch in a few days time we can have a close look at what this MPV is about.

First of all it is vastly cheaper than the Innova but does not lag behind on being a posh MPV. The Marazzo is premium and crammed with features. Pininfarina played a hand at this MPV and it is largely much more pleasing to the eye than the Xylo. The grille, detailing and the stance is much better if an MPV all right. It is big and has considerable presence. Its dimensions include overall length (mm) 4585, overall breadth (mm) 1886, overall height (mm) 1774, wheelbase 2780. It is FWD with transverse layout.

The main talking point is the interior though and here Mahindra has put in a lot of effort. Design has taken a leap with a cleaner and less fussy look. It certainly looks premium with beige, black and silver accents. Available in 7 and 8 seater versions there is considerable space with a long wheelbase. The 7 seater will have a captain seat lay out with two seats. Amongst features the talking point is the running aircon vent with vents for all rows with climate control. There is also a nifty TFT instrument cluster.

In terms of engines this new MPV gets a diesel engine with 123 bhp/300Nm and a six speed manual. An automatic will come soon but not being offered at launch is a miss. Mahindra has worked a lot on the engine and refinement plus 90 percent of the power come at as low as 1300 rpm. Mahindra claims it is the quietest cabin in class. The Marazzo is available with six colours and four trims.
