2021 was a great year for OTT. Many big Bollywood films such as Sidharth Malhotra's Shershaah and Vidya Balan's Sherni released on streaming platforms and gained massive success. The year was full of many engaging new web series and thrilling new seasons of old ones.

It was in 2019 that we were introduced us to the brilliant spy and a family man - Srikant Tiwari, played by Manoj Bajpayee, in The Family Man. Its second season was had Samantha playing Raji, a rebel who channelled her trauma into a relentless pursuit of vengeance and justice. The befitting sequel became a superhit.


Sushmita Sen came back as the fierce woman we all love in the second season of Aarya. The crime drama is about Aarya taking charge of her family business involving drugs, after her husband, played by Chandrachur Singh, is murdered. She does everything to handle the business and to protect her kids.


Starring Konkona Sensharma and Mohit Raina in lead roles, Mumbai Diaries 26/11 depicts the untold story of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and hospital staff who worked tirelessly to save lives during the Mumbai terror attack in 2008.

Ray is an anthology based on Satyajit Ray's stories. The four short films - Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa, Forget Me Not, Bahrupiya and Spotlight features Manoj Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, Kay Kay Menon, Harshvarrdhan Kapoor and Radhika Madan, among others. It is a well-made show that is worth your time.


The web series follows the friendship and struggles of three young men - Abhilash, Guri and SK, who are all UPSC aspirants. They drift apart as life moves forward, but try to revive their lost bond. Aspirants struck a chord with many people.


TVF's Kota Factory was loved by one and all when it released two years ago in 2019. Its second season dropped this year and showed the lives of young IIT aspirants. The show stars Jitendra Kumar, Mayur More, Ranjan Raj, Alam Khan, Ahsaas Channa, Revathi Pillai and Urvi Sing in pivotal roles.


Huma Qureshi's Maharani is a political drama which follows the journey and struggles of a homemaker, Rani Bharti, who is compelled to assume the position of Bihar's Chief Minister. The SonyLiv series also stars Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti and Inaam Ul Haq. It is quite engaging with a whodunit angle placed strategically in the middle of all the politics.


In The Empire, Kunal Kapoor plays the lead role of a young boy, Babur, who grows up to establish a kingdom in Samarkand. The show is based on Alex Rutherford's popular book Empire of the Moghul. It also stars Shabana Azmi, Drashti Dhami and Dino Morea in lead roles.

Gullak follows the Mishra family and is a heartwarming tale of relatable struggles and little victories that come with living a middle class life in India. The TVF series stars Geetanjali Kulkarni, Jameel Khan, Harsh Mayar and Vaibhav Raj Gupta.


Inspired by Satya Vyas' Hindi book Chaurasi, Grahan stars Pavan Malhotra, Zoya Hussain, Anshuman Pushkar and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles. It brings alive two sides of the same story, set three decades apart.
