Watch: Maha Shivratri celebration at Jagruteswar Shiva Temple in Vashi

On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, thousands of devotees thronged Jagruteswar Shiva Temple in Navi Mumbai’s Vashi. Amid kirtan by local groups at the temple premises, devotees began puja with worshipping the Shiva Linga, bathing it with water and milk and offering the prayers. Many devotees fast all day long and pray with devotion to have a prosperous life ahead. After the puja, bhog was also served to the devotees. As per the Hindu calendar, every year Maha Shivratri is celebrated on the new moon day in the month of phaguna, before the arrival of spring.
