Renowned Tamil actor Poo Ramu passed away on June 27, Monday. He suffered a massive heart attack and breathed his last at Chennai's Rajiv Gandhi Hospital. Mammootty, Vijay Sethupathi, Udhayanidhi Stalin and several other stars took to social media to pay tribute to the renowned actor. Poo Ramu's final rites will take place later today, June 28.


Poo Ramu, who was last seen in Soorarai Pottru, had given solid performances in many films. He died at the age of 60.

Mammootty took to Twitter to share a photo with Poo Ramu and said, "Saddened to hear the demise of one of the finest artists in Tamil cinema #PooRamu . Heartfelt condolences to his family & dear ones & Thank you for being a part of #NanpakalNerathuMayakkam (sic)."

Ramu rose to fame in 2008 after he played an important role in director Sasi's Poo, which was released in 2008. Since then, he had been fondly called Poo Ramu by filmmakers and fans. After Poo, Ramu gave solid performances in films like Neerparavai, Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan and Nedunaalvaadai.
