New Delhi: Here comes the wedding season and with it the drive and motivation to stay on track with your health journey go for a toss.

Attending weddings is fun – so much fun and frolic, food, family, and friends make the rituals, traditions, and celebration worth it. In India, the wedding season begins in October and goes on till January, leaving us with invites for various weddings, receptions, and different rituals. If you are on a weight loss diet, this time of the year can wreak havoc on your diet since it is extremely difficult to kill your cravings.

Also, it is difficult to not eat, drink and enjoy. But the post-wedding weight gain is disappointing. But fear no more as there are a few easy ways to keep your weight loss journey on track. Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, whose clientele includes Bollywood celebrities, models, and even cricketers, shares a few tips that would really come in handy the next time you attend a wedding.

Do not eat floating snacksRelated News |

Floating snacks are yummy, scrumptious-looking edibles that the waiters serve you in abundance at a wedding. Also, in the food area, you will find various snack bars and counters from which there are a lot of options to choose from.

Rujuta says to avoid these calorie-laden, high-fat chaat and noodles counters and instead opt for healthier options like grilled paneer or any protein-rich snack or dish. These are flavourful, yet low in calories.

Eat only one type of cuisine Related News |

Indian weddings are ostentatious and grand. You would find various kinds of cuisines on display, leaving you spoilt for choice. From Indian Mughlai, and Punjabi to Chinese, Italian, and even Mexican, there is no dearth of food to choose from at an Indian wedding. However, that is the worst part.

Always eat only one type of cuisine rather than mixing calories.

Italian cuisine counters with pizzas and pasta are a definite death knell to your weight loss diet. Rujuta recommends heading to counters with healthier, relatively low-carb cuisines, like Indian.

You can opt for curries with a lot of vegetables in them. And when choosing bread, wheat-based chapatis are better than tandoori rotis or naan.

Get a table away from the buffet

If you sit near the buffet table, you are bound to get tempted and keep filling your plate with unhealthy food. Hence, the best is to be as far as you can from the food counters so that you just eat as much as your tummy desires, not your greed.

Do not skip the breakfast next day

One of the biggest mistakes, according to Rujuta that we make is to skip eating breakfast the next morning. Most of us overeat at weddings and hence feel fuller even the next day.

However, it is recommended that you must eat your breakfast as a healthy meal can actually help you get back on track.
