Realme, earlier this week, said it will be one of the first brands to launch a phone that is powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor. It did not mention what this phone will be called. A new report attempts to shed some light on it. A GSMArena report has said this Dimensity 1200 powered smartphone from Realme will be called X9. The Realme X9 will be the successor to the X7 that is launching in India soon.

The report cites internal sources who have said the next smartphone in the X-series will be X9. It also goes on to say that Realme will launch X9 instead of X7 in India, but the teasers say otherwise. Realme India boss Madhav Sheth has been posting all sorts of teasers to build the hype around the upcoming X-series phone. Among these teasers are photos of packaging designs that the company mulled for X7 and X7 Pro. Sheth also posted a photo of what looks like an X7 unit and this photo has a watermark saying "Shot on X7 Pro" at the bottom.

There are multiple instances that do not align with the GSMArena report that suggests X9 is going to launch in India in the next few days. However, X9 may still be in the pipeline and launch later in India. The report suggests X9 will be powered by the new flagship MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor that is fabbed on the 6nm architecture, bringing improvements over the Dimensity 1000+ processor that is used inside the X7 Pro. The X9 design may be identical to that of the X7 series, with the "Dare to Leap" slogan etched on the back.

The report even says the X9 might be the repackaged V15 5G that was launched last year in China. But, again, there is a conflict here. The V15 5G is powered by the Dimensity 800U processor while the X9 is hinted to rock the new Dimensity 1200 chipset that will be a lot better in terms of performance and supporting newer technologies. Anyway, we will have a clear picture as and when more rumours pour in or when Realme finally decides to announce what phone it is going to launch in India and when.

Realme X7 Pro is going to be the top contender in the mid-range 5G market of India. Oppo just launched the Reno 5 Pro 5G (Review) that also uses the Dimensity 1000+ processor. Which is why it is going to be interesting to see how the two companies will grab the 5G smartphone market of India, even though the launch of 5G seems far off.

Realme X7 Pro has a 6.55-inch Super-AMOLED 1080p display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, a 20:9 aspect ratio. It also has up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage, which is expandable via microSD card. The cameras on the Realme X7 Pro include a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, a 119-degree ultrawide 8MP sensor, a 2MP portrait sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. Selfies on the X7 Pro are handled by the 32MP camera that X7 also has. And finally, the Realme X7 Pro has a slightly bigger 4500mAh battery.
