Liverpool Celebrates Paul McCartney With Giant Bass Guitar Installation

The Beatles Story exhibition in Liverpool celebrated the legendary Sir Paul McCartney's 80th birthday and Glastonbury appearance with a giant artwork modelled after his famous Höfner bass guitar. Sir Paul turned 80 on 18 June and wowed fans at Glastonbury a week later by becoming the festival's oldest ever headliner. The guitar statue, created in partnership with Höfner, resembles the instrument Sir Paul has played from 1963 until today. It will also help raise funds for the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins. Visitors to the art installation will have the opportunity to donate to via a QR code supporting a cause dear to Sir Paul himself to celebrate his 80th birthday year, amazing Glastonbury set as well as his and The Beatles' incredible careers which began in the city of Liverpool more than 60 years ago. Mary Chadwick, of The Beatles Story says she hopes visitors "ponder on the fantastic career and achievements of Paul McCartney," and wished him "a very happy and healthy 80th year, and for many years to come.”
