The Playstation 5 was met with overwhelming demand which resulted in the console being sold out at every retail store. The console went out of stock within minutes of its availability on each of its retail partners which left many customers without securing a pre-order. However, do not fret as Sony India will have another phase of pre-orders for the next-generation console.

"PS5 has been met with unprecedented enthusiasm by PlayStation fans in India, resulting in a stockout during the pre-order period. Keeping the current situation in mind, we kindly urge all customers to keep their health and safety first and refrain from visiting any retail store to pre-order a PS5. Please stay in touch with retailers for the next pre-order phase” Sony India said in a statement.

It is worthy to point out that only the physical disk version of the PlayStation 5 was available to pre-order in India at the moment. We could see the digital version of the console also go on sale in the next phase. Details about the next phase is currently unknown however it could be possible it might take place around the official launch date of the PlayStation 5 i.e. February 2nd.

The PlayStation 5 retails in India for Rs 49,990 and the digital-only version will retail in India for Rs 39,990. Both consoles will be covered under warranty for a period of 12 months from the purchase date. The warranty entails a replacement unit in case required however it is not applicable to consoles bought from other sources. Sony India has already advised customers to avoid consoles from parallel importers as the company will not cover warranty for said units.

“We advise our customers to check for the official Sony India Warranty card at the time of purchase to avail warranty benefits within India and in this context, it is important to note that PlayStation products marketed by Sony India are certified based on India safety standards stipulated by BIS,” a Sony PlayStation representative told MensXP in November 2020.
