The Royal Mint Unveil 'Largest Ever' 15kg Gold Coin For Queen's Platinum Jubilee
The Royal Mint has produced its largest ever coin to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. Their latest creation is a unique 15-kilogram gold masterpiece commissioned by a private UK collector and it has been personally approved by The Queen herself. The coin, with a diameter of 220mm, is made of fine gold and has been hand-crafted to the highest standard. It features a special-edition commemorative design by esteemed coinage artist John Bergdahl and has an official denomination of £15,000. It depicts a crowned EIIR cypher surrounded by roses, daffodils, thistles and shamrocks, representing the countries of the United Kingdom. The commemorative designs were brought to life by specialist craftspeople at The Royal Mint's site in Llantrisant, South Wales. It took them almost 400 hours of craftsmanship and refinement state using-of-the-art engraving and laser technology to finish. Britain will officially celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee over a long weekend starting Thursday 2 June 2022.
