NEW DELHI: Former Delhi BJP president and second term MP from Delhi's North East Lok Sabha constituency Manoj Tiwari tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. He does not have any symptoms and has isolated himself at his Delhi residence.

The BJP star campaigner cancelled his two political rallies scheduled in West Bengal immediately after getting the test report. Since the announcement of elections, Tiwari has addressed around 70 rallies, road shows and large public meetings in West Bengal, Assam and Kerala.

He addressed the last rally in Kolkata on April 18. "He was supposed to catch a flight for Kolkata on early Thursday morning, but cancelled the plan due to body ache. He got tested and the report was positive," said Neelkanth Bakshi, the MP's advisor.

On April 19 Tiwari had taken a Covid test as a precautionary measure but the report was negative. All those who have been in his close contact including Neelkanth will get tested for Covid now.
