Gandhwani: Two sarpanchs assaulted by husbands of defeated rivals

Gandhwani (Madhya Pradesh): Disputes arose in the two gram panchayats of Gandhwani, Kharbaydi and Roja Bayda after the announcement of election results.

According to the information received from the police officials, the husband of one of the defeated candidates of Kharbaydi village pelted stones on the supporters and family members of the newly elected sarpanch injuring five people.

On getting to know of the incident, Gandhwani police station in-charge Ram Singh Rathod reached the spot with the Jirabad outpost in-charge and his team and controlled the situation. Later, the victim's family and supporters lodged an FIR against 19 accused.

A similar incident has been reported from Roja Bayda of Khedi Balwari. Here, the elected sarpanch and his family members were physically assaulted by one of the candidate's husbands. Three to four people were injured and were brought to Gandhwani Health Centre for primary treatment. One assault victim has been referred to Dhar. Police station in-charge Ram Singh Rathod and Jirabad outpost in-charge SI Bhedia said that a case has been registered against the culprits.
