In just two months of her marriage, a woman in Tamil Nadu's Villupuram alleged that her husband doused her with kerosene and set her on fire for dowry.

The couple had tied the knot on June 3.

The woman alleged that her husband was torturing her after her family was unable to give her in-laws dowry.

It is also alleged that her husband was forcing her to arrange dowry for the last two months which often led to a fight between the couple.

The woman told police that on August 3, she had a fight with her husband following which he poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

The woman further said that her husband had threatened to kill her father and brother if she revealed any details of the incident.

Police are investigating the case and have taken the accused man into custody.

The victim is currently admitted to the Puducherry government hospital for treatment.
