International Emmy Awards 2019: India’s Sacred Games and Lust Stories fail to make a mark

The 2019 edition of International Emmy Awards was held on Tuesday. Netflix India's Lust Stories and Sacred Games were nominated in the Best TV Movie/Mini-Series and Best Drama Series categories, respectively.

Radhika Apte was also nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress category. However, none of them managed to clinch an award.

Lust Stories was an anthology film that brought together four directors -- Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap. It featured tales of love and desire from the female perspective.

Gritty crime drama Sacred Games, created by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, was an adaptation of Vikram Chandra's 2006 novel. It starred Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead roles. Its second season was released earlier this year.

British crime drama McMafia, created by Hossein Amini and James Watkins, was declared the Best Drama Series. The Best TV Movie/Mini-Series award went to Safe Harbour.
