US treasury head expresses 'concern' on decline in bank stocks

The US Treasury chief Janet Yellen expressed 'concern' over the decline in bank stock prices brought on by the share price collapse of Silicon Valley Bank.

"There are recent developments that concern a few banks that I am monitoring very carefully. When banks experience financial losses it is and should be a matter of concern," Janet Yellen told a Congressional committee.

Centre releases Rs 1.40 lakh crore tax devolution amount to states          

The government has released the 14th installment of tax devolution of more than Rs 1.40 lakh crore to states.

"The Union Government has released the 14th installment of tax devolution to state governments amounting to Rs 1,40,318 crore on March 10, as against normal monthly devolution of Rs 70,159 crore," the finance ministry said.

Currently, 41 percent of taxes collected by the Centre is devolved in 14 installments to states during a fiscal year.
