Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has hit out at the Opposition for criticising the RSS and said the more they slam the organisation, the more powerful it gets.

"They keep saying RSS-RSS and the more they say, the more powerful RSS will become. I'm here today because of RSS. PM Modi also proudly says he's from RSS," said Yediyurappa on Friday.

He further added, "They even talk nonsense about PM Modi's beard when he has been appreciated worldwide for his fight against Covid."

Yediyurappa further slammed the Opposition MLAs saying, "You are Opposition MLAs, you should sit in the assembly to talk about the welfare of the people of the state and not raise frivolous issues. I called a special session of two days, but they don't even talk and instead make useless allegations."

Congress members on Thursday staged a protest in the Karnataka Assembly against Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri's decision to hold a special discussion 'One Nation, One Election', terming it as 'RSS agenda'.

As Congress alleged that discussion on the topic was being taken up against the rules and unilaterally without their consent, the Speaker hit back stating that the Opposition was backing off at the last minute after having submitted the list of names of members who will participate in the debate from their side.

Congress members termed the move to take up the discussion on the subject as "dictatorial, fascist, Hitler attitude and part of RSS agenda".
