Centre asks Maharashtra to gear up daily Covid-19 testing

Keeping in mind the WHO's norms of 140 tests a day per million population, the centre has asked the Maharashtra government to gear up the daily Covid-19 testing in the state. As per the report, around nine districts such as Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Dhule, Gondia, Hingoli, Nandurbar, Washim and Yavatmal have been listed as conducting average tests per million below the norms set by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Man arrested for printing fake currency notes in Pydhonie area

On Wednesday, a 47-year-old man was arrested by Mumbai Police's Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) for printing fake currency notes in the Pydhonie area. The cops have seized 53 counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000 denomination worth Rs 1,06,000 from the accused, Shabbir Hasan Qureshi. The report suggested that the accused used to print notes at his house. Mumbai: State government to organize 'Asthi Kalash rally' on Saturday for farmers

In order to honour the farmers who lost their lives in Lakhimpur Kheri, the Maharashtra government has decided to organize the 'Asthi Kalash rally' on Saturday. As per the media reports, Nawab Malik, Nationalist Congress Party leader, stated that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra will be organising the 'Asthi Kalash rally' on Saturday, for the farmers who lost their lives in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3, 2021. Around eight people lost their lives and many were injured.

258 new Covid-19 cases, 4 deaths reported in Mumbai

On Wednesday, 258 new coronavirus positive cases and four deaths were reported in Mumbai. New cases have taken up the tally of coronavirus cases to 7,61,776 and the death toll to 16,315 in the city. After reporting less than 200 cases for two consecutive days, Mumbai saw a marginal rise in infections and fatalities on Wednesday.

Amid the strike, government announces up to 41% hike for MSRTC staff

In order to call off the month-long strike of the MSRTC workers, the Maharashtra government has announced a pay hike of up to 41 per cent for the employees on Wednesday. However, the workers are not satisfied with the hike and they will be calling off the strike once the government accepts their demand of merging the corporation with the state government.
