On this day: UNICEF was formed to protect the rights of children

On December 11, 1946, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) was formed by the United Nations agency. UNICEF aims to protect the rights of poor children and to provide humanitarian and development aid around the world. It is a non-government organisation and did a remarkable job at the time of World War II. The organisation ensured food and healthcare support to the children and mothers who were affected in World War II. In 1949, UNICEF was established in India and is committed to working with the Govt. At present, the organisation is working in 16 states in India.
