the Dark Horse 2021 (broom and mop paintings)

A documentation and glimpse of the two days of creating the 4 works for the Dark Horse show at karkhana using household mops and brooms. Artists Statement for the Dark Horse: The idea of mark making/ drawing as a primal urge and instinct coupled with the ability of these marks (brushstrokes) to leave a trace of the process and to visually encode the energy and force with which it was made for the viewer to see is an intriguing facet of painting and drawing. This apparent motion in a still image creates a flux and that interests me immensely apart from the figure ground relationships. The Dark Horse @ the karkhana tries to push the artist's practice by using unconventional and quotidian implements in a performative environment resulting in a visceral and direct outcome that is at once instinctive yet precise, forceful and unsuperfluous. Basic premise / idea for the show the dark horse a contender judged unlikely to succeed but truns out to be a winner in the end, the year 2020 has been a dark one for everyone; but let us hope that it turns out be a game changer, a dark horse gearing and resetting us up for success and joy in the coming year and future, as we reach the finishing line of this year, this exclusive show to be premiered on 8th January 2021 by renowned artist aditya shirke using liberated unexpected tools to create a large work of art in an extraordinary creative makerspace known as the karkhana. - The karkhana links: http://adityashirke.com/ https://www.instagram.com/adityadshirke/ http://www.thekarkhana.com/ https://www.instagram.com/thekarkhana/
