Uttar Pradesh: Clerics in Uttar Pradesh's Deoband allegedly issue a Fatwa against a Muslim BJP leader, reportedly for installing and worshipping the Ganpati idol at her residence on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Times Now reported. The clerics reportedly termed the act 'unislamic' and 'completely unacceptable.' Deoband's Mufti Arshad Farooqui even branded the BJP leader Rubi Asif Khan from Aligarh as an 'enemy of Islam.' Notably, Khan is the Mandal Vice President of BJP’s Mahila Morcha in Aligarh.

"Islam allows the worship of Allah only. If someone goes against this, they are going against their religion. Action that is necessary in this instance will be taken," Farooqui said on the matter. "Just because she (Ruby Khan) has a Muslim name it doesn't make her a Muslim if she's worshipping anyone other than Allah then that's it. She cannot be a Muslim," said another Muslim cleric Zahid Ali Khan.

The state vice president of AIQT went on to allege that Ruby Khan, a BJP leader did it for 'cheap publicity.' "She (Ruby Khan) is a BJP leader. She's doing it for cheap publicity. Many others from BJP have done that only to create political space for themselves in the party," Khan said.

Ruby Khan, on the other hand, rained down hard on the Muslim hardliners and said their sole objective is to create a divide. "Some Muslim clerics only want to create a divide. I do not discriminate I celebrate all festivals," the BJP leader said.
