NEW DELHI: Germany has from Sunday (Sept 19) lifted all restrictions on entry of travellers from India. While they require to be fully vaccinated with a WHO-approved jab for quarantine exemption and have a valid visa among other ravel requirements, there are no restriction in terms of purpose of visit. The move comes as Germany from Sunday removed 14 countries from list of high risk areas, including India.

“Germany has taken India off any category. Effective immediately anyone travelling from India can enter Germany for any possible (genuine and legitimate) reason. Of course one may still require a visa. This is a huge step and literally means a full opening of Germany towards India,” said George Ettiyil, Lufthansa Group Airlines’ senior director for South Asia.

Now there is no need for travellers from India to enrol on any German government portal. The 14 countries removed from high risk list by Germany from Sunday include Bangladesh, Brazil, India, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
