Last month, Trisha felt like she needed a break from social media. On her Twitter profile, she wrote, "On a happy but "my mind needs oblivion at the moment" note, a digital detox it is... Stay home! Stay safe! This too shall pass. Love you all and see you soon (sic)."

However, she had deleted the tweet for reasons best known to her.

Trisha was last seen in Gautham Menon's 12-minute-long short film, Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn. Starring Simbu and Trisha as Karthik and Jessy respectively, the short film is a continuation to the trio's super hit 2010 film, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya.

The actress hasn't had a release in 2020. In 2019, she starred in Superstar Rajinikanth's Petta, in which she played a small role. Trisha has half a dozen films at different stages of production.

Before the nationwide lockdown was imposed, Trisha was shooting for Mani Ratnam's period film, Ponniyin Selvan. The film is based on the Tamil literary novel, written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi form the cast of Ponniyin Selvan.
