MS Dhoni on Sunday highlighted that Chennai Super Kings learnt a lot from their bad pitch in IPL 2020 and used those learnings to make a strong comeback in the ongoing season of the premier T20 tournament. Dhoni's comments came after CSK prevailed in a last-over thriller against Kolkata Knight Riders to return to the top of the points table in IPL 2021.

With the last-ball victory, a record 7th in their history, CSK also stretched their winning run in the UAE to 6 matches. Despite losing out on a spot in the play-offs for the first time in their history in IPL 2021, CSK finished their campaign strongly, winning 3 matches on the bounce in the UAE.

IPL 2021, CSK vs KKR Highlights

Following the resumption of the league in 2021, CSK have looked unstoppable in the UAE, winning 3 matches against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and KKR.

Contrary to expectations, CSK did not go for wholesale changes after a horror run in IPL 2020 but only added a few key players like Moeen Ali to the roaaster.

"The important thing was to make the most of what we had learnt and to come back stronger," MS Dhoni said.

Nice victory to have: Dhoni

CSK rode on Ravindra Jadeja's all-round brilliance to chasse down 172 against KKR in a last-over thriller in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. CSK were in a spot of bother after having lost MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina in the same over following a strong start from openers Ruturj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis.

With 26 needed of 2 overs, Ravindra Jadeja took Prasidh Krishna to the cleaners in the 19th over, picking up 22 runs from it. However, Sunil Narine took the game to the final ball before Deepak Chahar hit the winning runs for CSK.

"It's a nice victory to have. At times you play good cricket and you lose. It is enjoyable when you don't do so well and still win. It was good cricket from both sides, and a pleasure for the spectators. We bowled well in patches. It's not easy for the fast bowlers. We tried to give them short spells. 170 was a par score, I felt."

I was working on my bat swing: Ravindra Jadeja

Meanwhile, the Player of the Match, Ravindra Jadeja shed light on the process he followed from adapting to T20 cricket after having played 5 Tests on the bounce for India in England.

Jadeja hit an 8-ball 22 and gave away just 21 runs and picked up a wicket in his 4-over spell against KKR.

"It is difficult. After you have played five-day cricket and then to come to white-ball cricket, I was working on my bat swing. I wanted to repeat whatever I was doing. The runs in the second-last over turned out to be the match-winning over for us. But Rutu and Faf gave us a good start. You need to be collective as a unit, whether with bat or ball.," jadeja said.

CSK are on top of the points table with 16 points from 10 matches are all but assured of a spot in the play-offs.
