It's safe to say former President Donald Trump is amped up about LIV Golf spending this week at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, DC.

Trump has been very complimentary of LIV Golf for several months. That has led to an investigation regarding his connection to the Saudi-funded league.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the United States Department of Justice subpoenaed the Trump Organization for records regarding the former president's ties to LIV Golf.

Speaking to the media Thursday afternoon, Trump offered his thoughts as to why he's being investigated.

"Oh, I don’t know. I guess they’re doing that because of what’s happening with (President Joe) Biden," Trump said, via USA Today. "That’s their retribution. Because we did nothing wrong. That’s their retribution. That’s the way they try and get even."

Trump participated in a pro-am this Thursday alongside Eric Trump, Patrick Reed and others. He made it clear that he believes LIV Golf's future is "very good."

This week's LIV Golf Invitational DC will run from May 26-28.
