But is he one of the best of all time, the way New York fans seem to think? Not even close. The Tampa Bay Times reports that the Big Apple spotlight under which Jeter played his entire career overshadowed the fact that he was quite often a terrible defender, costing his team a ton of runs due to his lack of range. Plus, he wasn’t much of a hitter in the twilight of his playing career either. Jeter is worthy of the Hall of Fame, based on his overall prowess at the plate and multiple World Series rings, but there’s plenty about his game that’s worthy of scrutiny.
