Who wouldn't revel in the glory of bed linen changes like clockwork, perfect hospital corners, arrestingly clean rooms and fresh bathroom vanities before each swirl in the sunken tub? But that's par for the course in most luxury hotels; imagine the props, pampering, fuss and frills that come with a presidential suite. After all, there's a reason Coco Chanel spent 34 years of her life at the Ritz hotel in Paris. Or why the cult film, Pretty Woman—where the gorgeous couple Julia Roberts and Richard Gere spent a week in the penthouse suite—gave the iconic Beverly Wilshire hotel in Los Angeles bucket list status on every tourist's map. Matinee magic aside, overdramatic under lighting, 1,000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, Makrana marble floors, 24x7 personal butlers and your 'whim as command' are just some of the wishes the genie in the bottle grants. To understand what this uber luxe address and extravagant price tag buys, here's a look at some of the most sumptuous suites in the country—the perfect B&B (bed and boast) experience!

The Grand Presidential Suite, TAJ MAHAL HOTEL, New Delhi

Speckled with glorious art centred on Lutyens' art and architecture, aerial views of Delhi from windows that let in the sun, light and startling shades of green clumps below that make Delhi look like a blueprint of every architect's deepest desire, are some of the reasons to set up base here in the heart of the capital. Every bit as tasteful and well curated as all things Lutyen's , this space is part of the most-extensive and much-awaited restoration in the hotel's history, and opened doors to praying eyes only this month. For material luxuries, it falls short of nothing with a master bedroom, en-suite bathroom, vanity room, private pantry, boardroom, private workout area, drawing room, dining room, powder room and also offers the additional option of attaching another bedroom, with twin beds, should you expect company, travelling with help or children if you feel inclined to share. Many of the architectural details within the suite are adapted from actual details created for and implemented at Rashtrapati Bhavan. For the final wrap of luxury, there's Hastens bed linen and Frette bath linen, in-built Jacuzzi and steam bath, custom-designed acoustics, state-of-the-art personal treadmill, gold-plated Christoffle cutlery, Riedel wine glasses, Renault, Bernardaud and Furstenberg crockery along with a highly personalised butler service. Chanakya—The Grand Presidential Suite at ITC Maurya, New Delhi

Christened Chanakya, after the Prime Minister and advisor to the Mauryan Emperor, Chandragupta (340 BC 293 BC), the Grand Presidential Suite bridges the past and the future in a way that ITC knows best. ITC Hotels' flagship property, ITC Maurya, is built as an homage to this period, and the interiors of this suite extrapolate this ode to love. This space is almost like a walk in time, where faux stone panels on the door typify the entrance panels of Sanchi and several other stupas that epitomise the Mauryan period. The chair rail draws inspiration from the typical railings found throughout Mauryan excavation sites, while a flavour of a roughhewn wall (entrance door wall) with the Pali script engraved in gold leaf, faux stone replicas of the chakras, mandalas and sermon given by Ashoka adorn the walls. The greatest story-telling involves the thrill of sharing this space with some of the greatet leaders of our time such as the Dalai Lama, Presidents Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Tony Blair, Vladimir Putin, King Abdullah, and the Sultan of Brunei to name a few. Personalised culinary experiences involve indulging any guest preference, where ingredients can be flown in from the country of origin to offer exclusivity on a platter. At 5,155 sq.ft, it offers 11 bays, two bedrooms and an additional three rooms that can be attached by the suite corridor. A Personal gym, steam and sauna rooms from 'Knullwald' are just some of the peripheral luxuries thrown in. This is a history lesson enjoyed in the portals of luxury.
