'Adipurush' teaser row: Hindu religious leaders are not happy with Saif Ali Khan's Ravana character being portrayed in the attire of a Mughal warrior

The teaser of the much-anticipated Prabhas-starrer ‘Adipurush’ released recently and while on one hand, netizens are criticising the film’s special effects and CGI, on the other hand there is a section of religious leaders who have distinct views about the character of Ravana portrayed by Saif Ali Khan. Jagadguru Paramhans reportedly said that Saif playing Ravana in the attire of a Mughal warrior does injustice to the character as he was believed to be a devout of Lord Shiva and a scholar. According to reports, Mahant Raju Das, a supreme religious leader in Ayodhya stated that Ravana was equally evil as compared to the Mughal invaders and therefore felt that there was no problem with the actor portraying the character in a beard. Many others criticised filmmakers for often hurting religious sentiments in mythological films. For more news and updates, stay tuned to ETimes.
