Bhutan became the first tobacco-free country in the world

On June 16, 2010, Bhutan became the first country to institute a total ban on tobacco. In the year 1916, the first King of Bhutan Ugyen Wangchuck had promoted the idea of banning tobacco. The Tobacco Control Act of Bhutan regulated the banning of tobacco and products from harvesting to sale in Bhutan from 2010.
