From Anushka Sharma to Katrina Kaif, reasons why these celebrities had to face NCB's Sameer Wankhede in the past

Amid the Mumbai cruise ship drugs case involving Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, Sameer Wankhede, zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau, Mumbai, is also being accused of extortion, among other things, by Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Nawab Malik and an 'independent witness'. But, did you know that this isn't Sameer's first brush with Bollywood celebrities? In fact, in the past, his name has popped up numerous times in connection with B-Town celebrities. Reportedly, as Assistant Commissioner of Customs stationed at Mumbai ariport, Sameer Wankhede detained several celebs for alleged misdeclaration of goods. Anushka Sharma had a chance encounter with him back in 2011. She was stopped at the airport as she was carrying jewellries and watches worth Rs 35-40 lakh. Anushka, who was returning from Toronto, was made to leave only after 11 hours. Then, the same year, Wankhede also stopped and questioned Shah Rukh Khan and his family at the airport, who were returning from a holiday abroad, for allegedly not declaring foreign goods that attracted duty. SRK, who had at least 20 bags, was reportedly questioned for several hours and allowed to leave only after he paid Rs 1.5 lakh in customs duty. In September 2012, Katrina Kaif was detained at the airport after she exited the premises without claiming her baggage. Reports suggest that when her assistants went to gather her baggage, Sameer Wankhede caught them and made them pay penalty of Rs 12,000 as per the international alternate regulation act. Reportedly, they recovered Rs 30,000, two bottles of whiskey, and an Apple iPad from her assistant. Then, as per reports, in 2013, Ranbir Kapoor was detained at the Mumbai airport for 40 minutes as he was seen utilising a passage that was meant for airport employees and different officers. Reports further claimed that Wankhede's team found garments, sneakers, and costly perfumes on him. The same year, singer Mika Singh also had a brush with Sameer Wankhede. He was reportedly returning from Bangkok and was attempting to leave the the airport premises without declaring a quantity of Rs 9 lakh. When his bag was scanned, officers reportedly found sunglasses, perfumes, and alcohol bottles.
