India terms Justin Trudeau's comments on farmers' stir as 'ill-informed and unwarranted'

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau's comments on farmer's stir have triggered a diplomatic row. India reacts sharply to his comment and termed his remarks as ill-informed and unwarranted, especially 'when pertaining to the internal affairs of a democratic country'. Official sources said India also lodged a formal protest with Canada against the remarks made by Trudeau and members of his Cabinet. 'It is also best that diplomatic conversations are not misrepresented for political purposes,' said MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava. While addressing the Sikh community virtually on the occasion of Gurpurab, Trudeau had described the situation as "concerning" and said that Canada will always be there to protect the right of peaceful protest.
