Kerala rains: 2 shutters of Idamalayar Dam opened to control water level

As rains wreak havoc in Kerala, authorities have opened the two shutters of Idamalayar Dam in Ernakulam dist opened for 50 cm each. The move has been taken to control the water level. The water level in the dam has risen due to incessant rains. The present water level of the dam is 165.70 metres and the maximum water level is 171 metres. A red alert is issued when the water level rises above 166.80 metres. More rains are expected in the state for the next few days. 3 shutters of Cheruthoni of the Idukki reservoir have also been opened by 35 cm each. The water level at 10 is was 2,398.08. The red alert level is 2,397.86 ft. The full reservoir level is 2,403.ft. There was 94.24% of storage in the reservoir on Monday.
