The steam vehicle defeated the petrol-powered car in the first motor race in 1894

The world’s first motor race was held in France on 22 July 1894. The editor of the Le Petit Journal organised the show.126 km distance was covered from Paris to Rouen in France. The steam vehicle ‘Count de Dion’ finished the race first with a timing of 6 hrs and 48 mins but the vehicle failed to meet the criteria of race. Finished second the petrol-powered car 3 hp Peugeot judged the winner.
