Why are men in Karnataka's Mandya single even in their 40s?

Agriculture, with its allied sectors, is the largest source of livelihood in India, particularly in rural areas. In Karnataka's Mandya though... being engaged in farming...has come with an unexpected consequence. For many men engaged in farming here, finding a bride has become a big concern...and there are farmers who have not been able to find themselves a life partner even after crossing the age of 35. For many, it’s been 10 years of only rejections.Out of 19 lakh people, around 5 lakh people are employed in farming in Mandya. And today many men here are single because young women, with a college education and jobs in bigger towns, are not interested in marrying farmers due to the uncertainties and challenges of agrarian life. This has led to a bride crisis in Mandya.
