City Leader Issues Apology as Thousands Throng Hong Kong Streets

Thousands of protesters, many dressed in black, marched near Hong Kong’s central business district on June 16, as the city’s chief executive, Carrie Lam, apologized for the government’s handling of a controversial extradition bill. Lam announced the day before that the proposed bill, which would allow for extradition of suspects to mainland China, would be suspended. This footage shows a crowd of protesters outside the People’s Liberation Army of China Headquarters, as well as other scenes from the demonstrations earlier on Sunday.
