Several Injured as Police Clash With Student Protesters in Tegucigalpa

At least four students were injured by gunfire and two soldiers were wounded as protesters calling for President Juan Orlando Hernández’s resignation clashed with military police in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on Monday, June 24, according to local media. Military police said they were forced to intervene after hooded protesters threw modified Molotov cocktails and other projectiles, reports said. The protests on Monday were part of a nationwide demonstration against Orlando Hernandez, who took power in a coup in 2009 and has led the privatization of energy, healthcare, and other services.
