2019 Hyderabad encounter case: SC panel recommends slapping murder charges on cops
The Supreme Court-appointed panel recommended murder charges for cops in the 2019 Hyderabad encounter case. The panel said that all 10 cops should be tried for murder. In August 2021, the top court granted an extension to the commission, headed by former top court judge V.S. Sirpurkar, to file the final report on the encounter killing of the four accused. Former Bombay high court judge Rekha Sondur Baldota and former CBI director D.R. Karthikeyan were also members of the commission.
