Covid-19: Active cases in Bengaluru highest among all cities

With over 3 lakh active cases under treatment, Bengaluru's caseload is the highest among all cities in both waves. The state government failed to plan for a massive surge. Bengaluru’s first wave peak was 66,854 active cases in mid-October — just a little over a fifth of the present number. This explains why beds and oxygen are in acute supply in the city. No other Indian city has crossed the 1-lakh active case mark since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. Delhi’s active-case peak was 99,752 on April 28, 2021, and Mumbai’s was 91,100 on April 11, 2021. All other cities have had active cases under 70,000.
