Fifty-year-old land row among interfaith groups in UP resolved
A 5-decades-old land dispute in Hathiman village of UP’s Prayagraj district has been resolved amicably by two groups of different faiths. The resolution sets an example of interfaith harmony, since the dispute had seen communal clashes in this area last year. The two rival camps of Subhash Chandra Patel and Mohammad Shamim agreed to end the dispute through mutual understanding on Monday evening, in the presence of police and revenue department officials. The Patel family had possession of a plot belonging to Mohammad Shamim, while the latter had land owned by the Patels, in their control. They decided to let each other keep the lands in their respective possession. The Patels also gave away a portion of their share to the Shamim group, as the other plot was smaller.
