Indian artist creates unique Durga goddess idol using expired medicines

An Indian artist has created a unique 'Durga' idol out of expired medicines and syringes. The roughly 2m (6 foot) likeness of Durga, a Hindu goddess of war and strength, was created by an artist in Dhubri in Assam, in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Sanjib Basak, who is also a local official, told Indian media that he wanted to express solidarity with people fighting the virus outbreak. He told local news agency PTI that his sacred sculpture took tens of thousands of strips of tablets and five months to complete.
